The new version 0.9.21 of SCARM is ready! Download it form www.scarm.info.
|Remember, that SCARM is still in beta stage of development and sometimes may not work as expected. Always create archives of your layouts and save changes in a given track plan with incremental files (just in case) named like “plan_1.scarm”, “plan_2.scarm”, and so on. Please report any bugs and/or unexpected error messages with a short explanation how, when and where in the program they occurs in the comments area below.|
Some of the more important added/improved features and updates are listed below.
|If “Check for Updates” feature in older releases reports that there is no newer version of SCARM, download the installer directly from the website. The old release info file may be cached on your PC and it may need some time to expire. If the website also shows older version, press F5 key to refresh it.|
And finally, several words about the new version.
This update brings a long-awaited feature – flex-track point-to-snap-and-join function with auto shaping of the curved part. To use it when working with flex-tracks, just move the end of the last flex-section (colored in black) over the end point (grey arrow) of the track where you want to obtain a join. If the automatic join is possible, the flex-track will be shaped with largest possible radius and a black dot will appear over the green connecting arrow (the dot is not visible when Track Heights are shown). Click with left mouse button to set the connection. See how this works in the demo clip below:
The new automatic feature is 100% precise and accurate, but for now it can handle only simple curved shapes. If you need a flex shape with change of the curvature or direction of the curve, do this manually and use the automatic function on the final stage. The old way of manual joining is still working as before. It allows some tolerances in the connections and you can always use it together with the new automatic feature.
This version also comes with the ability to work with mixed gauge (standard and narrow) track systems, new and updated libraries and many other small improvements. I hope that you will like this release and also hope that the next version will be ready in the beginning of the autumn
