Tip
If “Check for Updates” feature in older releases reports that there is no newer version of SCARM, download the installer directly from the website. The old release info file may be cached on your PC and it may need some time to expire. If the website also shows older version, press F5 key to refresh it.

This version comes with several new and updated track libraries and also with new auto-save and backup features for better security and safe work when editing your track plans. In case of unexpected program crash or power loss, SCARM will offer you to load the last auto-saved recovery file when you open that project next time. If you select to have backups of your projects, these will be saved with “BACKUP” prefix in the file name. To configure the new features, go to “Tools” > “Settings” > “Save” page. You can change the auto-save period, enable keeping of old backups or turn all these features off (which is not recommended). Please note that even if auto-save is enabled, it does not replace the Save command – you must still save your project when you finish working on it.

  1. Hello,

nice to see another update of SCARM. I am using SCARM for planning my new layout with Maerklin tracks.
It would be great to see the new Maerklin C-track curved turnouts (with R3/R4 radius)No. 24771 and 24772 including the new R3 curved track No. 24315 in one of the next updates.

  2. Hi!

I have just completed my track plan based on Roco GeoLine track using SCARM. This program is simply great! Thank you for your effort!

  3. “Option for drawing of tracks in 2D as track centers only” – That’s a big thumbs up from me. Really helps a lot when transferring a layout to reality! It works really great with track colors too.

    Keep up the good work!

  4. Forget about the turnout. I just had to open my eyes.

  5. Hello Patrick,

The textures are possible only within the libraries for now and cannot be applied from the user interface yet. When I create new object libraries or rolling stock in the future, all they will be with applied textures. Here is one example for a preliminary textured container:

  6. i have been using SCARM to make my kato unitrak n scale layout and wile you do have the track feeder in its data base there is currently no way to notate the terminal uni-joiner or any terminal feed joiner for that fact we really need this !!!!!!

  7. I use this program since a few days and it works very well so far. Great Freeware.
However, it seems that the axes in the 3D view are always in the center of the window.
I found until now no possibility to move the axes and zoom to details near the side of the layout.

  8. Yes, the axles in 3D view are always in the center and are used just for orientation. You can toggle them on or off from View menu.

If you want to move or zoom the camera, you can do that either with the mouse or the keyboard.
To zoom, use the mouse wheel or + and – keys on the numeric keyboard.
To rotate the camera around the focus point, use the left mouse button (hold it down) or Ctrl+Arrow keys.
To move the camera forward/back/left/right use the mid mouse button (hold it down) or arrow keys.

  9. Hello from Australia
Peco have just released the HO scale Code 83 SL-U8363.
It is a double slip with the exact same dimensions as the SL-8364 diamond crossing.
Scarm is a great little program.
