The new MTS edition brings also a new database with Virtual Rolling Stock containing various European and North American locomotives and wagons for downloading and using in the simulator. With the Power Edition you will be able to play with 5 locos and 50 cars per session for simulations with several trains, shunting/switching in busy yards or pulling of large consists with several locos in multiple unit and even this limit will be expanded in the future.

  1. I created an account (DiscoSteve), paid by paypal and dpwnloaded and installed the extension ( saw “3 files updated” message) – when I got to rolling stock database page I can’t download anything as it says “(You do not have MTS license for this PC)

You must buy and install license for the required extension in this PC.”

When I go to my account it says:

    User’s modules

    PC #1 [rename]
Module name [Purchase Ref. No] Type Download Status
Model Trains Simulator – Power Edition [6XXXXXXXXXXXXXXX] Extension MTS-PE.scpem (Status Activated)

    please sort this out

Many thanks for your help this afternoon in resolving this for me. Everything is working now. No idea how the MTS Power Edition extension registration in my account was not right – it might be that I changed the computer name, I don’t know.

I think you should provide an FAQ (with pictures) showing people exactly how to install MTS PE and the rolling stock step by step. Here is my version if anyone else is having trouble:-
    1. Upgrade SCARM to v0.9.35 if you haven’t already done so.
    2. Start up SCARM v0.9.35 and select Extensions > Browse for Extensions
    3. Login to your account OR create an account in your web browser
    4. Click on Pay Pal Buy Now button for “Model Trains Simulator – Power Edition”
    5. Go through the purchase steps
    6. On your account page there will be Module Name of “Model Trains Simulator – Power Edition” Pending Activation – there will be a green icon under Status
    7. Click on MTS-PE.scpem under Download and your browser will download the file
    8. When your browser asks you, run the downloaded file
    9. The SCARM Modules Manager will process the file and confirm that it has updated 3 files
    10. Go back to SCARM, close it down and restart it.
    11. In SCARM select Extensions > Model Trains Simulator
    12. To confirm the download/install has worked select Help > About… the dialog should show Model Trains Simulator Power Edition (registered to [your account name])
    1. Start up SCARM v0.935 and select Extensions > Browse for Extensions
    2. Login to your account and then go back to the Extensions page
    3. Click on Virtual Rolling Stock database which will take you to
    4. Click on the picture of the piece of Rolling Stock you want to download
    5. At the bottom of the page you will see a Download section
    6. If you have properly activated/purchased MTS Power Edition, you should see a green tick next to “File” and the rolling stock file (e.g. “NNR_SD38-2_123.scpem” file will be available to be downloaded. If not you will see a red cross next to “File” and the rolling stock file will be greyed and there will be a message saying you need to purchase MTS Power Edition.
    7. Assuming all is OK, click the file name to download it.
    8. When your browser asks you, run the downloaded file
    9. The SCARM Modules Manager will process the file and confirm that it has successfully installed the file.
    10. You must repeat 4,5,6,7,8,9 for every piece of Rolling Stock you require.
    11. When done, make sure you exit and restart SCARM MTS Power Edition
    12. Click on the Rolling Stock library selector (defaults to free DSS) and now you should see your new Rolling Stock available to use.
    Hope this is OK

  3. Can’t open scarm after the new update.. Getting the “Exception ERangeError in module scarm.exe at 00206E8C”??

  4. Does the Power Train Simulator allow you to save states of cars and locomotives on the railroad between sessions? I noted in the free one that once I closed the Simulator and re-opened it all the cars and loco were gone and had to be re-placed.

  5. I will be modeling a river canyon area, with 7% grades. Does your program handle this?
