Tip
If “Check for Updates” feature in older releases reports that there is no newer version of SCARM, download the installer directly from the website. The old release info file may be cached on your PC and it may need some time to expire. If the website also shows older version, press F5 key to refresh it.

This version comes with many new and updated track and object libraries and with some new and improved features. The status bar is now much more informative when a single track or object is selected – it shows the layer (for tracks and objects) and the name plus the most important properties (for the objects). The reporting for the new features and upcoming promotions is improved in this version and there is also a new command for uninstalling of the paid licenses and extensions (in Help menu), if you want to transfer them on a different (new) PC.

This release also fixes a few bugs in the main program and in the Model Trains Simulator extension. The most important of these is that the tracks are now not fully realigned after move and join in a new location, so all position adjustments already made in the selection will be preserved after the join, i.e. parallel tracks will now stay in parallel after moving and joining.

  1. Will you ever upgrade to add Faller Car System Laser Street?
    Thanks

  2. The Faller Car System street tracks requires a lot of new coding in order to be correctly processed and displayed in SCARM, so I cannot promise when these parts will be added to the program.

  3. In Scarm my measuring tape now is not working. How do I get it back.

  4. Tape measure not working in latest version. Reinstalled older version and tape measure works fine. Only problem is the track design created in new version does not open in older version.

  5. Again checked it and the Measuring tape works normally in the latest version of SCARM, at least on my test PCs. So I need more info in order to reproduce that:

    1. Is it now working right after starting SCARM? Or it stops working after some time or some operation?
    2. Is the tape measure circle not showing? Or the distance is not displayed next to the mouse? Or the distance not displayed in the status bar?
    3. What is your version of Windows?
    4. And what is your CPU and graphics card?

    UPDATE

OK, I found the problem. In specific circumstances, the label next to the mouse is not displayed. However, the tape measure still works by showing the circle and the measured distance in the status bar. The bug is already fixed with silent release of v. 1.0.3 (a). Please, update your version of SCARM directly from the website. Sorry for the inconvenience.

  6. Is there a way to change the intensity (or color) of the grid?

I know the grid is the least to worry about but, I am having the most trouble seeing the grid; These grid dots are almost invisible to me.
I have changed the transparent dots to lines but still very hard to see.

  7. Hi,
I like SCARM very much but what I really need is the radius information of flex tracks. I saw that this was already discussed more then one year ago and even announced for coming updates but now in 1.3 (a) it is still not available.
Have You any idea how I could get this information out of SCARM to built my lauyout with the right curves?

  8. Hello Wolfgang,

Each flex-section shows its radius/angle data by default. If you don’t see these on your track plan, please, ensure that Track labels are on in “Tools” > “Settings” > “2D View” > “Tracks” > “Labels” and that Show dimensions on track sections is on in “Tools” > “Settings” > “Dimensions” > “Flex-tracks”.

  9. Hi,
thanks, now I see it, and I can start to build my layout :-)
One more question: have You thougt about enabling switches in a slope? This would be very useful for underground stations in a slope. At the moment I have to interrupt the slope at switches.

  10. Hi Milen. Thanks for such an amazing tool. I’m just writing for an update on tools for designing transition curves with flexi-track, which you mentioned in a previous blog post might be coming out this year. Many thanks
