One Nice Layout Proposal in Z-scale

Here I will present one more layout in Z-scale, designed in SCARM and sent recently to me by Marco Colagiacomo.

The plan features single main line on 3 levels, most of which are located in tunnels under the village.

  • Dimensions: 1000mm x 750mm (39.4″ x 29.5″)
  • Epoch/Era: IV-VI / Modern
  • Trackwork: Maerklin Z
  • SCARM project file: yes (see the links below)

The project includes also a rolling stock, vehicles and several buildings, created with the figures interface in SCARM. See the track plan and some screenshots below:

Thank you, Marco, for sharing your SCARM design with other model train fans :)

  1. I love the work Marco has done detailing his plan. Very nice. I am very intrigued as to how he created the rounded heads on his little people?

  2. Also how did he change the colour of the roads to make the dirt ones? Any help on these 2 things would be much appreciated.

  3. Hello Rosco,

The figures are probably taken from another Z-scale layout: Binnenhafen am Kanal by Detlev Stahl. He used the objects interface in SCARM, which he studied by trial and error as there were no official documentation for that.

Not sure what you mean by “dirty roads”, but the road color can be changed in the same way as tracks color in 2D. However, that color is also applied for the 3D road sections, while the tracks color cannot be changed in 3D.
