This is a proposal for a large sized layout in scale I (1:32) that may fit into a large room or hall. The plan consists of double main line in oval, crossed by a river, with 5-track train station plus depot and two additional dead end tracks.

The layout is divided in the middle by a “river”, which is actually the floor, painted in blue. The two parts of the plan are connected by two removable bridges over the river at the two short sides of the room. The tables are designed to be 95cm (37.4”) high. All turnouts should be electric for remote operation. The same is valid for the uncouplers (marked in red on the 2D plan), because the station tracks are too far from the controlling zone and the rolling stock cannot be reached with hands.

Traffic and operations

The layout is suitable for any traffic. The first two tracks in the station has platforms for accepting of passenger trains, while the other tracks are suitable for meeting and for shunting/switching operations. The two additional dead end tracks can accept cargo coaches – both are equipped with uncoupling tracks.

The double line allows up to two trains to run simultaneously. There is additional crossover line in the tunnel, which can serve as a hidden storage of one train or for invisible switching from the inner line to the outer and vice versa. Depending of the power control system, the hidden track may need to be isolated in both ends when used as hidden storage place if the power source is analogue.
